Jeremy

Jeremy Hicks (Jay) was born in Springfield, Missouri and lived near Kansas City for the first part of his life.  As a young child, Jeremy became infatuated with the ocean and all its amazing creatures.  Every school or art project was dedicated to sharing his passion for the ocean with others.  He took to the water at a very young age and has made it his second home ever since.  His father introduced him to photography with his first camera when he was five and Jeremy has been taking pictures ever since.

In high school, Jeremy was a member of the swim team, which led to a scholarship at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri where he participated for four years as an active student athlete and team leader.  Jeremy continued to pursue photography and helped lay the building blocks for the University's photojournalism department.

After college, Jeremy landed his childhood dream job of working with marine mammals at Sea World San Antonio, Texas.  Jeremy worked with killer whales, California sea lions, Pacific walrus, Beluga whales and otters during his career as an animal trainer.  Jeremy loved being able to reach thousands of people and being able to educate them about the beautiful oceans and animals the ocean waters contain.

In 2010, Jeremy moved to the Big Island of Hawaii where he started working as a PADI Dive Instructor and crewing for licensed intercostal vessels off the northwest coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. Whether it is teaching students to scuba dive, educating guests during snorkel trips or whale watching tours, Jeremy has never felt more at home then out on the water.

Jeremy started up his own photography company called, "Pics By Hicks" where Jeremy is able to capture the elegance of subjects both above and below the water. He is a featured artist in the Kona Oceanfront Gallery located in downtown Kona, Hawaii and specializes in fine art photos printed on specialized aluminum metal.

Jeremy feels so blessed and fortunate to be able to combine all his passions into everyday life and share them with Hawaii Oceanic guests to our beautiful Island of Hawaii.

His hope is that everyone who comes to this stunning Hawaiian island will see how beautiful and fragile our environment is and will leave the island better educated and more aware of how they can help
